Away from the spotlight, Remco Evenepoel<\/a> is engaged in impressive and meticulous preparations for the 2026 World Cycling Championships<\/a> in Canada. The Belgian is hoping to win the rainbow jersey in Montr\u00e9al, especially now that his main rival, Tadej Poga\u010dar, is sidelined at home<\/a>. Evenepoel shared some fun footage of his Thursday training session at high altitude via his social media channels<\/a>.After finishing second at the Tour de France<\/a> and winning the Cl\u00e1sica de San Sebasti\u00e1n, Evenepoel quickly made his way up to high altitude in Livigno. It\u2019s the perfect place to prepare for the autumn, with Mathieu van der Poel, among others, heading there ahead of the Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole. Evenepoel stayed behind and continued to train steadily.<\/p>\n

In \u201cA Day in the Life\u201d of Evenepoel, we see what the Belgian rider from Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe does during one of these high-altitude training camps. It\u2019s not just cycling, but also tracking his sleep, eating a lot, getting massages, and heading out in the evening with his wife Oumi for a genuine \u201cdate night.\u201d Even face masks made an appearance.<\/p>\n

Evenepoel conquers the Mortirolo and over 5,000 meters of elevation gainHow did he do on the bike? On Thursday Evenepoel logged 181.85 kilometers on Strava<\/a>, with a staggering 5,332 meters of elevation gain. He was on the road for 6 hours and 24 minutes, averaging 28.4 kilometers per hour.<\/p>\n

Evenepoel first climbed the Passo Forcola, before tackling the Passo Mortirolo. \u201c12 kilometers at 12 percent,\u201d the Red Bull team leader noted. Evenepoel made no attempt to go for the KOM, because there was more to come. The Passo Gavia was next\u2014with 16 kilometers at an 8.8 percent gradient, it was no slouch of a climb either.<\/p>\n

Next came Le Motte and the Passo di Foscagno, before we had to conquer the Passo Eire on our way to the hotel. There, on the rooftop terrace, a well-deserved recovery drink, a plate of pasta, and a hamburger awaited us. For dinner, we had a delicious plate of sushi. Back in bed, we wrapped up the day with a face mask. \u201cDon\u2019t skip your skincare routine, guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
