LeBron James<\/a> has left the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> for the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> this offseason, but his son Bronny James<\/a> hasn\u2019t gone anywhere. Bronny remains very much in the Lakers\u2019 plans<\/a>, and he was part of the contingent that headed to Slovenia in August for a minicamp hosted by Luka Doncic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Lakers seemed to have a blast there, and Bronny talked about the trip and more during an appearance on the Mason & Ireland<\/a> show.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had the Slovenia trip; that was great,\u201d Bronny said. \u201c\u2026 I mean, the city was great. We had the [Ljubljana] Castle that was close to us. Then we went to Lake Bled, which is great. The castle there. And then we played the course over there near Bled. I mean, I want to go back to go to the Alps and stuff like that. The scenery and everything was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lakers were moving around like royalty in Slovenia<\/a>. That was down to Doncic, and it was hilariously mentioned here that he could run for President tomorrow. Bronny agreed he could, but you\u2019d imagine the Slovenian superstar would rather stick to dominating on the basketball court.<\/p>\n

Doncic will be leading a new-look Lakers squad following a roster overhaul this summer. Ziaire Williams<\/a> is one of the many new faces, and he believes their bonding during the Slovenia trip will translate to the court<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bronny was asked about Williams\u2019 comment here, and he agreed with his former Sierra Canyon teammate. The 21-year-old also shared that his new Lakers teammates have fit in well.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s great,\u201d Bronny said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been in the gym, working. It\u2019s good vibes everywhere. I think that again, the Slovenian trip helped, because we got back home, we got to work, and it\u2019s coming around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, all this roster turnover has meant Bronny has become one of the longest-tenured Lakers. They had selected him with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and Austin Reaves<\/a> and Jarred Vanderbilt<\/a> are the only ones who\u2019ve been there longer. That\u2019s something Bronny is aware of.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was thinking about that,\u201d Bronny said. \u201c\u2026 It\u2019s crazy. Yeah. Yeah. I\u2019m like got a bigger voice in the gym right now, and it feels weird.\u201d<\/p>\n

A youngster entering his third season in the NBA being one of your longest-tenured players isn\u2019t really ideal. It\u2019s a sign of great change, and it will be interesting to see how the Lakers fare next season.<\/p>\n

ESPN\u2019s insiders predict the Lakers will take a step back<\/a>. They have also been tipped to be the most disappointing team next season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bronny would be hoping to help the Lakers prove the doubters wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll across the board I\u2019m trying to get better,\u201d Bronny said. \u201cI\u2019m playing with Luka and AR still. So I\u2019m going to be off ball when it\u2019s needed. I need to be able to knock down shots and create for others. And I think I\u2019ve been doing a good job with that this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bronny averaged 2.9 points, 0.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game for the Lakers in 2025-26. Those numbers are nothing to write home about, but the former USC guard showed signs of improvement.<\/p>\n

Bronny has shown to be a decent defender, but there is room for growth on offense, and he was asked what he thinks his calling card is on that end of the floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I can be a secondary ball handler to Luka and AR and generate whatever offense and catch-and-shoots and pick-and-roll offense and stuff like that,\u201d Bronny said. \u201cSo I just pride myself in being an all-around player, and whatever is needed, I\u2019m up for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, don\u2019t expect a major leap from Bronny next season, but it\u2019s crucial he continues to improve.
