A frustrated Josh Hannay said the Titans are \u201cgetting used to\u201d being on the wrong end of controversial calls after the Gold Coast fell to the Dolphins 24-20 on Friday night<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Titans raced out to a surprise 14-0 lead early before being run down by a Dolphins side who coach Kristian Woolf conceded post-game may have had an eye on next week\u2019s finals.<\/p>\n

The game flipped on its head when Keano Kini was sin-binned for a professional foul in a call which Hannay described as \u201cincredibly harsh\u201d, while the Titans coach also took issue with a controversial Herbie Farnworth try and late sin bin for front rower Moeaki Fotuaika.<\/p>\n

\u201c(It was a) great start,\u201d Hannay said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA couple of big calls sort of flipped the game on its head, lost all momentum, fought really hard to regain momentum and then finish really strongly, and then again, just some stuff that is hard to explain, but we\u2019re getting used to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it (Kini sin bin) was incredibly harsh. Not long after that, they get a try (to Farnworth) from a knock on, a contested ball. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo you talk about momentum swings, they don\u2019t get much bigger than that. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think Mo got smacked in the face at the end there and he ends up in the bin for retaliating getting smacked in the head. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey throw a leg out to trip in the act of a potential try scoring play. Nothing happens, it\u2019s just a penalty. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably a more sin-binnable than Keano\u2019s act to be brutally honest. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo you want to stack all those things up and you lose by four points. You\u2019ve got to be pretty proud of your team\u2019s effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fotuaika was sin-binned for striking after a hit to the back from Kurt Donoghoe, which was later cleared from the Bunker. <\/p>\n

It came after Jamayne Isaako was only penalised moments earlier for tripping AJ Brimson as he attacked the Dolphins\u2019 line in a try-scoring situation.<\/p>\n

While the Gold Coast\u2019s finals hopes have been long gone, Hannay said he hopes similar controversial refereeing calls will not decide the premiership fates of the remaining teams. <\/p>\n

\u201cThose teams that are playing finals next week, they work hard to get to that position. You just hope over the next four weeks the teams sort out the result,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hannay received some support from Kristian Woolf, although the Dolphins coach also said the Gold Coast had a fair few calls go its way too.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was a tough sin bin. They were a bit unlucky with the try. We\u2019d seen it was a knock on obviously,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they got plenty of things to go the other way after that. That\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hannay also acknowledged the Titans got the rub of the green later in the contest, but suggested that was a \u201csquare up\u201d more than anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that the second half no try with Bostock, that was a square up. That was a try to the Dolphins,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we want the call right in the first half when we\u2019ve got all the momentum.
