Mr. T let loose on Netflix\u2019s new documentary about his life, calling it \u201cgarbage\u201d and claiming they missed the mark when chronicling his rise to fame and retreat from the public eye.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe documentary pissed me off, because they didn\u2019t cover a lot of stuff,\u201d the former pro wrestler told The Guardian<\/a> in unfiltered comments about Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool, streaming September 8.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I saw it I was like: \u2018What the heck?\u2019 It\u2019s garbage,\u201d he added. \u201cYou build me up, then you try to punk me out.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. T \u2013 who was born Laurence Tureaud before legally changing his name \u2013 recalled saying, \u201cWow man, I\u2019m more than that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTwo days they interviewed my pastor, and he gets 30 seconds [on screen],\u201d he said of the documentary.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s what we call, in the black community, a white man wanting to change the story and control the narrative,\u201d the actor continued. \u201cIf you don\u2019t know me, you\u2019re gonna think I\u2019m some monster.\u201d<\/p>\n The A-Team star, 74, also took exception to the documentary including unflattering comments by former agent Peter Young about his 1993 movie Freaked, while allegedly leaving out his positive attributes.<\/p>\n Mr. T claimed he asked director Scott Weintrob to see footage of the documentary \u2013 which the outlet claimed suggests his \u201cdescent\u201d from fame was \u201cfuelled by poor decisions and bad behaviour\u201d \u2013 but was denied.<\/p>\n \u201cWe started filming last year at Easter. I didn\u2019t see the finished product until a month ago,\u201d Mr. T claimed. \u201cI didn\u2019t see nothing on film. So now I see it, I say: \u2018God dammmmmmmmnmn, ain\u2019t this something.\u2019 We told them, \u2018Don\u2019t put Peter in my doc\u2019, but he did.\u201d<\/p>\n The former celebrity bodyguard said when he saw the film, he said to himself, \u201c\u2018Lord, don\u2019t let me go off. Don\u2019t let me go off.\u2019 \u2019Cos I wanted to go off on Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cAnd I thought: \u2018If I go off in here, it\u2019s not going to be pretty.\u2019 I said: \u2018Take the high road.\u2019 So I took the high road.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, when asked about an allegation in the film that he\u2019d only attend events if a white limousine was sent for him, he questioned, \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with white limousines?\u201d and asked the outlet if he shouldn\u2019t \u201chave a choice of colour.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat makes me a bad guy? Let\u2019s get real here,\u201d he ranted. \u201cI wear white T-shirts sometimes, does that make me a bad person? I wear white socks. So what\u2019s the beef about that?\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. T stated, \u201cWhen Elvis Presley died he had a white limousine, so why can\u2019t I have one while I\u2019m living?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut Mr. T\u2019s a bad guy,\u201d he went on. \u201cWe don\u2019t care about him feeding the homeless, but, you know, \u2018He wanted a white limousine, he wanted a certain kind of soap in his hotel room. Wow, he\u2019s a bad guy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n According to the outlet, his former agent Young responded to a request for comment, saying, \u201cPlease give Mr. T my best, and let him know I forgive him.\u201d<\/p>\n Reps for Netflix and Weintrob did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s requests for comment on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n Despite his apparent frustration with the documentary \u2014 which Netflix allegedly told The Guardian he approved of prior to the interview \u2013 the Rocky III actor said he\u2019d done everything he\u2019d \u201cever wanted to do\u201d in life.<\/p>\n \u201cAll I wanted to do was buy my mother a beautiful house and pretty dresses,\u201d he said elsewhere in the interview.<\/p>\n \u201cI done that in the \u201980s, so the game was over. It was done. I was already walking away. When they called me for The A-Team, I was at the wrap party for Rocky III.\u201d<\/p>\n He added in part, \u201cMy mother told me, \u2018Son, there are some things that money just can\u2019t buy.\u2019 Like the poem says, if you can walk with kings and queens and not lose your common touch then you will be a man, my son. How many people have sold their soul to the devil, chasing money? I\u2019m not chasing the dollar.
