Parnasse was massively favored<\/a> opposite the hard-nosed veteran Dan Hooker. Watching footage of Parnasse\u2019s rise to KSW double gold, it\u2019s obvious that \u201cThe Lion of Atlas\u201d is a quality athlete with a well-rounded mixed martial arts (MMA) game. However, there\u2019s always a question about how a prospect will handle the rise in athleticism and toughness that accompanies an elevated competition level. Look no further than UFC Paris\u2019 Michael Page, who boasted a 76 percent finish rate prior to joining UFC\u2019s roster.<\/p>\n

After six fights, the flashy striker hasn\u2019t scored a single knockdown, let alone a finish.<\/p>\n

Parnasse, conversely, passed that test with flying colors. After a feeling-out process of kicks and feints, a single clean liver kick snuck under the elbow and left Hooker in a world of hurt. He could barely stand, leaving him vulnerable to the lightning-fast follow-up shots.<\/p>\n

This victory propels Parnasse forward in more ways than one. For many U.S.-based fight fans, this was their first introduction to Parnasse, and what\u2019s not to like? He\u2019s explosive, young, and charismatic. He already has the French fanbase behind him, which goes a long way in producing the sensation that an athlete is a global star. Then, that feeling makes it easier to join the bandwagon and get invested.<\/p>\n

It also rockets Parnasse into immediate title contention. He called out Max Holloway in his post-fight interview, and that has the recipe to be a thrilling main event. The only possible outcomes of that matchup are a high-level striking battle or another quick knockout \u2014 which both sound awesome! If the Hawaiian is otherwise occupied, there are lots of Lightweight options available.<\/p>\n

Justin Gaethje\u2019s upset win over Ilia Topuria blew the division wide open and created many potential paths to the title. Paddy Pimblett, Mauricio Ruffy, and Arman Tsarukyan are young, popular contenders coming off victories who could be next in line with a strong performance. Former champion Charles Oliveira remains in the upper echelon of the division as well, and fans haven\u2019t forgotten how quickly he tapped out \u201cThe Highlight\u201d in 2022.<\/p>\n

Put Parnasse in the cage with any of those names, and it\u2019s instantly a potential title eliminator as well.
