Facing engine penalties that relegated him to the penultimate row, the Mercedes-AMG sophomore driver defied all expectations across 53 frantic laps at Monza.<\/p>\n

An early red flag triggered by a heavy crash for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc<\/a> at the final corner provided the initial lifeline. Having already made up seven spots to reach 12th before the stoppage, Antonelli picked off rivals with relentless speed once racing resumed.<\/p>\n

A mid-race Virtual Safety Car set up a dramatic tactical split between the two Mercedes-AMG contenders. While teammate George Russell<\/a> remained on track to inherit the race lead, Antonelli pitted for fresh tires and embarked on a thrilling pursuit.<\/p>\n

With his seventh victory of the 2026 campaign in the books, Antonelli has blown his Drivers’ Championship lead out to a commanding 66 points over Russell.
