\u201cThe Giraffe\u201d is a clear reference to towering WBC super-welterweight champ Sebastian Fundora, while Charlo also called out unbeaten superstars Jaron \u201cBoots\u201d Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr.<\/p>\n
But it was Tszyu\u2019s name right at the top of the list \u2013 and the latest exchange has again raised hopes the bitter rivals could finally throw down.<\/p>\n
Charlo just weeks ago claimed he had spoken directly with powerful boxing adviser Al Haymon <\/a>and was being lined up to face Tszyu next.<\/p>\n \u201cI talked to Al myself and I\u2019m [fighting] Tim next,\u201d Charlo told boxing reporter Lance Pugmire last month.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking on location.\u201d<\/p>\n No fight has been officially announced, but Tszyu\u2019s latest post was one of the clearest public indications yet that \u201cThe Phoenix\u201d is still keen.<\/p>\n No Limit boss George Rose has previously described a showdown with Charlo as \u201clong overdue\u201d after twice attempting to make the fight. <\/p>\n The pair were originally scheduled to fight for Charlo\u2019s undisputed super-welterweight crown in January 2023 before the American withdrew after suffering a broken hand in training.<\/p>\n The bout was postponed but never rearranged.<\/p>\n Instead, Charlo moved up two divisions to face Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez later that year, losing a unanimous decision in what remains his most recent fight.<\/p>\n Tszyu repeatedly accused Charlo of running from their fight and was eventually elevated to become WBO champion without ever receiving his shot at the undisputed king.<\/p>\n The Aussie\u2019s career then took a brutal turn, suffering consecutive defeats against Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev before beginning his climb back up the mountain.<\/p>\n That revival got serious momentum in July when Tszyu defeated former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr by unanimous decision in Sydney.<\/p>\n Charlo, meanwhile, has not fought since his defeat to Canelo in September 2023 and has not recorded a win since knocking out Brian Castano in May 2022.<\/p>\n But the 36-year-old Texan clearly believes his championship history still makes him one of the top dogs in a stacked division.<\/p>\n And after more than three years of call-outs, Tszyu appears ready to find out whether Charlo is finally serious about answering the phone.<\/p>\n MORE BOXING:<\/p>\n \u2018S**t his pants\u2019: Circus continues as Fury claims AJ fight is OFF… and challenges another superstar<\/a><\/p>\n \u2018Writing me off\u2019: The Aussie boxing greats fuelling massibe underdog\u2019s shock Vegas upset bid<\/a><\/p>\n Hrgovic STUNS Itauma | 02:56<\/p>\n Meanwhile, respected trainer Robert Garcia has added another intriguing layer to the whole situation.<\/p>\n
