WILLIAMSBURG, Va.\u2014 The William & Mary women’s golf team opened its 2026-27 campaign with an impressive start on Monday, as it is tied for second place after the first day of play at the Tribe Invitational.<\/p>\n
W&M posted an 18-over (300-294) through the first 36 holes at the Kingsmill’s River Course, tying with Georgetown. Longwood will enter Tuesday’s final round atop the leaderboard at 6-over.<\/p>\n
The Tribe’s 594 ranks tied for the fifth lowest 36-hole score in program history (to par score, +18), while its 294 in the second round is tied for the 10th-lowest mark in program history (to par score, +6).<\/p>\n
Freshman Abigail Avallone<\/a> recorded an impressive debut for the Tribe and is tied for third with a 2-over. The Bethesda, Md., native is just four shots off the lead after registering an even-par 72 in the opening round and a 2-over 74 during the afternoon. She finished the day with seven birdies, three coming in the first round and four in the final 18 holes.<\/p>\n Freshman Srihitha Mandava<\/a> also posted an exceptional debut and is among the leaderboard’s top 10 through 36 holes, as she is currently tied for ninth at 6-over.<\/p>\n Just outside the top 10 is junior Jennifer Osborne<\/a>, who carded a 7-over and opened the day with a 1-over 73 in the morning after tallying three birdies.<\/p>\n Freshman Tess Morris<\/a> (+8, individual), sophomore Lilly Reed Black<\/a> (+9) and sophomore Reagan Garnsey<\/a> (+10) are all among the top 20 through 36 holes. Black posted the Tribe’s best round of the day, as she fired a 1-under 71 in the afternoon after birding four of the final seven holes. Additionally, the score tied for the second-lowest round of the tournament.<\/p>\n Competing as individuals were senior Faith Garcia<\/a> and senior Samantha Skinner<\/a>, who are tied for 27th at +14.<\/p>\n The final round is set for a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Team Leaderboard
