Riders in Werribee have major new bike infrastructure available for travel with the opening of the Ison Road project.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The $194m project has delivered a major new shared path along 1.3km of the new arterial road, and extending over a new overpass across the Geelong rail line.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new path connects to existing paths on Ferntree Drive in King\u2019s Leigh Estate and Geelong Road.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
There is also a new dedicated cycling track underneath the bridge, along the rail corridor, to connect with future paths in the Harpley Estate development.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Work is still underway to complete the new intersection linking Geelong Road, Werribee Main Road and Ison Road.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project paves the way for the delivery of a new intersection at Ison Road and Werribee Main Road, and a new roundabout on the Princes Freeway city-bound off-ramp \u2013 with construction due to start in the coming months.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project included three levels of government, with funding from the Commonwealth and the state plus the City of Wyndham.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King, said: \u201cGone are the days of Ison Road coming to an abrupt end in the middle of Werribee.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
“With a new bridge, a new road and new walking and cycling paths, locals now have a safe and reliable connection from Armstrong Road to the Princes Highway.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
