It feels like there has been a lot of stuff dubbed \u2018woke rubbish\u2019 lately, from Chris Nolan\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d to HBO\u2019s \u201cLanterns,\u201d Netflix\u2019s \u201cLittle House on the Prairie,\u201d Rockstar Games\u2019 \u201cGrand Theft Auto VI,\u201d and the just-announced \u201cDays of Thunder 2\u201d.<\/p>\n

Currently in the firing line of online furore is Insomniac Games\u2019 \u201cMarvel\u2019s Wolverine\u201d releasing next week. Complaints have included the slamming of the Mystique and Sentinel designs, Insomniac being branded a \u2018DEI studio\u2019, the switch from open world to a more linear narrative being dubbed stale, and talk of the developers \u2019emasculating\u2019 Wolverine. <\/p>\n

Dominating much of the discourse, beyond bots and those motivated by monetised engagement clicks, is the fact that the title is the first major PlayStation exclusive since Sony announced it was ending physical media for games. Even though this particular title is being released on physical media, pitchforks are out, and the topic of discs has dominated responses to every clip or post released.<\/p>\n

Now, a newly released official post from the game studio\u2019s social media accounts has ignited more discussion \u2013 specifically, a gameplay element in which you use Logan\u2019s sense to discover \u2018Nightmare Doors\u2019 and complete traversal, combat, and gauntlet challenges to uncover his forgotten memories.<\/p>\n

That Wolverine will tackle mental health themes has drawn praise and criticism, with one frequently liked and retweeted complaint on X saying: \u201cIs it really THAT difficult to make a game where you just beat up bad guys and don\u2019t spend HOURS \u2018struggling with mental health\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

That post has been eviscerated<\/a> for basically not understanding that it\u2019s key to Wolverine\u2019s whole character. Either way, discussion of the game has been seriously trending across multiple platforms for days now.<\/p>\n
