\n\tAdidas\u2019<\/a> long-running link-up with Disney and Pixar<\/a> is suiting up for the gridiron with two just-released cleats fashioned after beloved characters from the \u201cCars\u201d franchise in celebration of the film\u2019s 20th anniversary.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series\u2019 iconic Lightning McQueen and Mater characters have once again been turned into limited-edition footwear, this time in the form of two different Adidas<\/a> . Lightning McQueen is represented on the Adidas Adizero<\/a> Electric 2 (style code KI3681), while Mater\u2019s likeness takes shape on the Adidas<\/a> Adizero Impact 2 Mid (style code KJ2865). Both cleats take similar design approaches, adding animated eyes to the tongues of each boot while adding various graphic and livery details.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Lightning McQueen, this means the red Adizero Electric 2 cleat is covered in flame illustrations with references to Rust-eze and tire-shaped Lightyear eyelets. Reflective details liven up the Lightning McQueen look, while the car\u2019s signature number 95 is printed on both the lateral and medial sides.<\/p>\n

\n\tLightning McQueen\u2019s best friend Mater gets a detailed Adizero Impact 2 Mid colorway that\u2019s adorned with rust and patina-like details throughout its Mesa brown upper. \u201cTow Mater\u201d branding is seen on the heel, while the heel tab is adorned with a tow hook attachment.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney<\/a> and Pixar\u2019s hit franchise has proven to be a hot commodity in footwear form. 2017\u2019s Lightning McQueen-themed Crocs<\/a> kicked off the craze, and nearly every subsequent launch has been met with enthusiasm from consumers. On Sept. 16, Crocs will continue its hit collaboration<\/a> with the release of a \u201cLightning McQueen Dinoco\u201d Classic Clog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tUnsurprisingly, the cleats have been met with high demand, quickly selling through from Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods, but it\u2019s likely that more releases will follow from adidas.com along with other potential retailers. The Mater Adidas Adizero Impact 2 Mid retails for $110 while the Lightning McQueen Adidas Adizero Electric 2 is priced at $130.<\/p>\n
