And just like that, Bryan Battle has landed on his feet after being released by the UFC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dirty Boxing Championships, the fledgling promotion co-owned by Jon Jones and Mike Perry, announced Friday that it has signed Battle to compete in a 185-pound fight Aug. 29 at DBX 3 from The Hangar in Miami.<\/p>\n

Battle was cut from the UFC on Wednesday<\/a> after he missed weight for the second consecutive fight at UFC 319. Battle couldn’t make weight for a welterweight fight with Randy Brown last December, which forced him to move up to middleweight. But Battle also failed to make the 186-pound limit at UFC 319 weigh-ins, registering 190. As a result, his fight with Nursulton Ruziboev was subsequently canceled, leading to his release from the UFC.<\/p>\n

Battle, 30, won “The Ultimate Fighter 29” reality series in 2021. In total, he officially made nine UFC appearances, going 7-1 with one no contest. He earned three Performance of the Night bonuses from the UFC.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear if Battle will compete in DBX beyond the Aug. 29 event, which is headlined by fellow former UFC fighter Jairzinho Rozenstruik fighting Robinson Perez for the DBX heavyweight title.<\/p>\n
