Anthony Albanese has now twice been asked why a Daily Telegraph report in 2019 mentioned his honorary membership of the Marrickville Golf Club, despite the prime minister claiming he did not know about his membership until recently.<\/p>\n
The matter has become one of public interest after revelations Labor gave the club a $6 million grant as an election promise.<\/p>\n
Albanese twice failed to respond directly to the question, instead speaking about the reason the club was in the news in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an absolutely vital and precious piece of the inner west of Sydney. Just like we have had projects, including the Cooks River bike path, just like there\u2019s a water park down there at Steel Park, and a range of projects that have improved the amenity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we did was go to an election campaign and make commitments for round about 500 projects.
