As college football is trying to navigate a situation with players drafted into the NFL coming back, college basketball has been thrust into the same situation with Minnesota Timberwolves draftee Trey Kaufman-Renn. <\/p>\n
Per Nathan Baird<\/a> of the Indianapolis Star, Kaufman-Renn has been granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA that will make him eligible for a sixth year in college basketball. <\/p>\n Baird noted the judge’s ruling means the NCAA can’t deny Kaufman-Renn’s “eligibility based on his five years in college and four years playing for the Boilermakers, or his professional status.”<\/p>\n Kaufman-Renn, who was selected with the No. 59 overall pick by the Timberwolves in June’s draft,\u00a0filed a lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0in August seeking an additional year of college eligibility.<\/p>\n He will now enter the transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello<\/a>. <\/p>\n Even though Kaufman-Renn arrived at Purdue for the 2021-22 season, he redshirted and didn’t appear in a game his first year. He appeared in 147 games for the Boilermakers over the next four seasons.<\/p>\n
