Speaking on NRL 360 about the impending roster decisions for the Rabbitohs, Fox League\u2019s Paul Crawley believes hard calls will be made but one player is a non-negotiable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Souths are at a stage now where some tough decisions will be made,\u201d Crawley said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe one bloke I think probably ends up being a non-negotiable on that list, there\u2019s a few but at the top of the list.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t see Latrell going to another club and people will say well, he\u2019s not earning his value and often injuries and everything else has held him back,\u201d Crawley said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Bennett has also been a coach over time where he knows the sort of players he wants there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knows what wins football games and this bloke can win football games.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mitchell who has played 97 games for the Rabbitohs since joining South Sydney from the Sydney Roosters in 2020.<\/p>\n
This season, Mitchell has appeared in 11 games, scoring 12 tries.<\/p>\n
For Braith Anasta, the impending decision around Mitchell is simple.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019ll re-sign for sure,\u201d Anasta said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he suits Souths and Souths suit him and Wayne the same. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve got a combination of partnership and relationship, and I think he loves it there generally to play there but also he loves it off field.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anasta also pondered whether Souths\u2019 exiting this finals this week would make them rethink their roster approach.<\/p>\n

In response, former Souths star Luke Keary said the club\u2019s priority should be building enough quality through their spine to compete for a premiership. <\/p>\n
\u201cWith South Sydney, you\u2019re 1, 7, 6 and 9, if you don\u2019t have quality there, you cannot win a competition,\u201d Keary said.<\/p>\n
Keary spoke to what Souths already have on their list and who are the priorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got Matt Dufty, who\u2019s been over in Super League,\u201d Keary said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got young Ashton Ward, who\u2019s a very young half. That needs to be their priority, not their centres, right?<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve got Jack (Wighton) and Latrell (Mitchell), terrific players, two of their highest paid players.<\/p>\n
