{"id":887730,"date":"2026-09-11T04:44:21","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T04:44:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/887730\/"},"modified":"2026-09-11T04:44:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T04:44:21","slug":"will-davison-talks-supercars-enduro-shot-with-matt-payne-grove-racing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/887730\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Davison talks Supercars enduro shot with Matt Payne, Grove Racing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AFTER his longest wait between Supercars races in 20 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-4-Will-Davison\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Davison<\/a> returns to the field with a golden chance to add to his victory tally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davison is teaming up with Grove Racing\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2716-Matt-Payne\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Payne<\/a> for the Ryco Enduro Cup, starting with this weekend\u2019s AirTouch 500 at The Bend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payne and the #19 Penrite Mustang have been the benchmark for much of 2026, and it\u2019s a reinvigorated Davison who now joins the party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo watch the way they\u2019re working and the way they\u2019re succeeding with Matt and Jack (Bell, engineer) and the whole team, it has been quite eye-opening and impressive,\u201d he told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey have been so professional in integrating me and welcoming me to the team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2026-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1789101856_574_2026-bathurst-program-2.jpg\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI still feel quite sharp\u2026 I won\u2019t lie, I was wondering how quick it would come back to me, but it all was quite quick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m really enjoying the team; the car is very different to what I\u2019m used to and I can certainly feel its strengths. It\u2019s a beautiful car\u2026 Matt is such an impressive young guy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPressure is on but pressure is great and a privilege. Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 44-year-old is coming off a difficult final full-time season at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Johnson<\/a> Racing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI had to come to terms with it last year and that\u2019s life, we move on, so I\u2019m embracing the new role,\u201d said Davison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve got plenty of other things keeping me busy in life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t have a point to prove, I don\u2019t have unfinished business.
