{"id":888284,"date":"2026-09-11T15:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T15:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/888284\/"},"modified":"2026-09-11T15:32:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T15:32:11","slug":"no-23-mens-golf-opens-2026-27-season-at-vuori-invitational-byu-athletics-official-athletics-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/888284\/","title":{"rendered":"No. 23 men\u2019s golf opens 2026-27 season at Vuori Invitational &#8211; BYU Athletics &#8211; Official Athletics Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN DIEGO \u2014 No. 23 BYU men\u2019s golf will open the 2026-27 season at the Vuori Invitational at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14-15.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/kihei-akina\" title=\"Kihei Akina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kihei Akina<\/a> will lead a starting lineup that also features returning players <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/parker-bunn\" title=\"Parker Bunn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Parker Bunn<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/jackson-mauss\" title=\"Jackson Mauss\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jackson Mauss<\/a>. Freshmen <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/drake-harvey\" title=\"Drake Harvey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Drake Harvey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/austin-shelley\" title=\"Austin Shelley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Austin Shelley<\/a> will make their first collegiate starts, while sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/byucougars.com\/sports\/mens-golf\/roster\/player\/david-liechty\" title=\"David Liechty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Liechty<\/a>, who transferred from Utah Tech following the 2025-26 season, will make his debut for the Cougars as an individual.<\/p>\n<p>BYU joins 11 other teams in the field, including tournament host San Diego, Arkansas, Cal State Long Beach, Colorado, Colorado State, Oregon, Pacific, San Diego State, San Jos\u00e9 State, Tulsa and USC.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday before an 18-hole final round on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Scoring for the event will be available at <a href=\"https:\/\/scoreboard.clippd.com\/tournaments\/245341\/scoring\/team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">scoreboard.com<\/a>.
