Fenerbahce have confirmed Ismail Kartal will remain as head coach despite announcing he had resigned after his team\u2019s draw in the Champions League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Turkish manager stunned the football<\/a> world this week as he informed reporters of his resignation just minutes after his side\u2019s 1-1 draw against Roma<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Kartal kept his declaration short and sweet, confirming he would be departing his role for the fourth time at Fenerbah\u00e7e with the \u201cintention of never returning.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kartal had only taken back the top job at Fenerbah\u00e7e in June. <\/p>\n

The playing group was informed by reporters of their manager\u2019s decision shortly after the press conference, leaving many puzzled about what was happening. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do you mean he resigned? As what? As coach?\u201d defender Archie Brown asked reporters when informed of the decision. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not the coach any more? He said this just now? I didn\u2019t know about this.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kartal congratulated and wished all who he dealt with at the club the best with their future, the club has since confirmed his resignation was not accepted.<\/p>\n

Fenerbah\u00e7e president Aziz Yildrim revealed in a statement that Kartal will be in charge when the team returns to the Turkish Super Lig on Tuesday (AEST). <\/p>\n

\u201cKartal is still in his position,\u201d the brief statement read. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur team will continue preparations for the Gaziantep FK match with a training session under the direction of our head coach \u0130smail Kartal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hereby inform the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yildrim had previously acknowledged that Kartal cited the \u201cpressure\u201d of holding the top job at Fenerbah\u00e7e as one of the reason\u2019s for his sudden resignation. <\/p>\n

He also added that a bottle thrown from the stands that had struck Kartal during the Champions League match accelerated his decision.<\/p>\n

Fenerbah\u00e7e has since identified the spectator who threw the bottle and the individual has been issue a ban from the stadium. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t show support by throwing punches at him like this,\u201d Yildirim continued.<\/p>\n

“Ismail Kartal doesn’t need to say he’ll continue. I am his senior. I said he’ll continue, and that’s it. We’re a family.”<\/p>\n
