Breakout star Inde Navarrette says memories of Southern women she knew while growing up in Corpus Christi are influencing her take on the iconic Marvel character.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Inde Navarrette is bringing a little Corpus Christi inspiration to her role as Rogue in Marvel\u2019s upcoming live-action \u201cX-Men\u201d film.<\/p>\n
Following her breakout performance in \u201cObsession,\u201d Inde Navarrette was cast as Rogue in Marvel\u2019s upcoming live-action \u201cX-Men\u201d film.<\/p>\n
When asked about her approach<\/a> to Rogue\u2019s iconic Southern accent, Navarrette said women she knew while growing up in Corpus Christi have served as an inspiration.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never told this publicly,\u201d Navarrette said. \u201cI have a divorced family, so I grew up in Texas for a good majority of my life. So, those Southern women are really my favorite. Corpus Christi is the city specifically. I just remember the old Southern women that I really, really love.\u201d<\/p>\n Navarrette said she also wants to visit Mississippi, Rogue\u2019s home state, to study the accent.<\/p>\n \u201cBut specifically Mississippi, Rogue is from Mississippi, and I really want to go there,\u201d Navarrette said. \u201cI really want to do her justice.\u201d<\/p>\n The X-Men will make their Marvel Studios debut on May 5, 2028. The film will introduce a new generation of mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Navarrette taking on a role previously played by Anna Paquin in four films produced by Fox.
