\n\tGary Oldman<\/a> is weighing in on the HBO<\/a> adaptation of the Harry Potter<\/a> saga and says one key difference from the films will make it \u201cmore satisfying\u201d for fans.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a new interview, the actor who played Sirius Black across multiple movies in the Harry Potter universe revealed why he thinks the TV series will have an advantage over the films.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe had to cut a lot, and still we could only get the films down to, like, three hours,\u201d Oldman told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cI believe [the TV series is] gonna do it pretty much word-for-word, which I think, as a viewer, would be more satisfying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOldman, who first appeared in the films in 2004\u2019s\u00a0Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,\u00a0said that \u201ca lot of character detail was sacrificed,\u201d which the series could develop further.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor said he was \u201cgrateful\u201d to be part of the\u00a0Harry Potter\u00a0franchise, calling it a \u201cphenomenon,\u201d and added, \u201cI don\u2019t think you\u2019re ever gonna see again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen you think of that initial cast, someone in the story who doesn\u2019t get a lot of credit anymore is Chris Columbus, who set the world up and cast it,\u201d he said. \u201cWe were extraordinarily lucky to have those people come back again, and again, and again, and literally grow into those roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOldman would reprise his Sirius Black role with a cameo in 2005\u2019s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He then appeared in 2007\u2019s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The actor\u2019s last appearance was a cameo in 2011\u2019s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows \u2014 Part 2.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Harry Potter series will debut in Christmas 2026 on HBO and stream on HBO Max.<\/p>\n
