{"id":890029,"date":"2026-09-13T03:02:23","date_gmt":"2026-09-13T03:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/890029\/"},"modified":"2026-09-13T03:02:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T03:02:23","slug":"brenton-grove-says-supercars-parity-war-to-roll-into-bathurst-1000-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/890029\/","title":{"rendered":"Brenton Grove says Supercars parity war to roll into Bathurst 1000 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE great Supercars parity war of 2026 is not yet finished.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s the candid warning from Brenton Grove, CEO of Penrite Racing, following a tension-filled race week at Tailem Bend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford and its teams <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/supercars-top-team-slams-pre-enduro-parity-change\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were furious about Supercars\u2019 pre-event approval of a front-end tweak<\/a> that took the Chevrolet Camaro outside of the agreed upon \u2018parity box\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/burgess-airs-frustration-over-last-minute-camaro-change\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">it was the General Motors contingent that was aggrieved<\/a> after being hit with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/supercars-clips-camaro-wing-amid-parity-storm\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a last-minute rear wing change<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think ultimately the result was the right thing for the sport,\u201d Grove told V8 Sleuth of the latest adjustment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe need to see on the back of this weekend if it was enough of a correction back.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/MW-Team-18-Bend-207A9002-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-264861\"  \/>Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe still have reservations that the GM has an advantage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHowever, it is now back in the parity box, which ultimately is what we all signed up for. Ford has areas that still aren\u2019t the benchmark, and we\u2019ve told Supercars that work needs to be done on that before Bathurst \u2013 and Bathurst has been a big topic with that in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut for sure, Supercars made the right decision (yesterday). We got it back within a pre-agreed box, therefore it\u2019s very hard for us to complain now that they\u2019ve followed the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the areas still needing addressing ahead of Bathurst is the altitude impact on different engines, something which flared up at the 2025 Great Race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, don\u2019t expect the \u2018p-word\u2019 to suddenly be forgotten about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2026-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1789268543_527_2026-bathurst-program-2.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s not finished,\u201d said Grove.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe difficulty is that there is an underlying engine issue, or something that presents itself as a straight-line speed issue on the Ford. The change that Supercars made (yesterday) to correct it obviously makes that problem worse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBarometric testing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/supercars-steadfast-on-bathurst-barometric-testing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has been committed to<\/a>; however, I\u2019ve heard that in the past as well, so I look forward to seeing it happen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLook, at the end of the day we\u2019ve had an open dialogue with Supercars and they do understand that there is more work to be done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut our stance certainly is that what\u2019s happened this weekend is a band-aid and it is not the end of the story, because more needs to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE great Supercars parity war of 2026 is not yet finished.
