Saturday Night Live UK lampooned Meghan Markle and Prince Harry\u2019s return to the country with a suggestion they ran out of money from their lucrative Netflix deal.<\/p>\n

The Season 2 premiere began with a cold open<\/a> in which actors Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, portraying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visit King Charles III (Larry Dean) and Queen Camilla (Emma Sidi) at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaddy,\u201d Prince Harry addresses his father, \u201cI\u2019m home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t tell me you\u2019ve spent all your Netflix money already,\u201d the King asks, to which Harry responds, \u201cIt was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHello, sweet Harry,\u201d Camilla interjects, adding, \u201cAnd beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever\u201d \u2014 an apparent reference to Harry and Meghan\u2019s accusation during an interview with Oprah Winfrey that a member of the royal family asked how dark Prince Archie\u2019s skin might be, as Markle is biracial.<\/p>\n

(Those claims were shot down by Prince William and the now-late Queen Elizabeth II at the time, with the former saying the royals are \u201cvery much not a racist family\u201d and the latter noting that \u201cissues raised, particularly that of race, [were] concerning.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\u201cHey Step Queen. I brought you a gift. It\u2019s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I\u2019m kind of a wiz in the kitchen,\u201d Markle quips in the sketch \u2014 perhaps a dig at the real-life Markle\u2019s attempts at establishing herself as a lifestyle expert and her Emmy-nominated Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s true,\u201d Prince Harry chimes in. \u201cShe hires the best cooks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid the tense moment UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham \u2014 played by George Fouracres \u2014 enters. \u201cHarry, Megan, I\u2019m here to tell you that just because you\u2019re normal folk doesn\u2019t mean your life has to be crap,\u201d he jokes. \u201cThat is the Burnham promise.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep for Harry and Meghan did not immediately respond to request for comment.<\/p>\n

The second season premiere for the series was hosted by Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum, with musical guest CMAT.<\/p>\n

Last month, news broke that the couple \u2014 who famously left their roles as working members of the royal family to move to sunny Southern California in 2020 \u2014 would be returning to Prince Harry\u2019s home country<\/a> and enrolling their children, Archie, 7 and Lilibet, 5, in an upscale prep school there.<\/p>\n

Though speculation abounded as to the reason for the relocation \u2014 with a source telling us last month they \u201cthink cash is a big\u201d reason \u2014 separate sources told Page Six that the real motivation revolved around being closer to Harry\u2019s father and securing relationships with the family for their son and daughter.<\/p>\n

The couple signed a lucrative multi-year deal with Netflix after leaving the UK, producing shows on the streaming platform including Markle\u2019s aforementioned With Love, Meghan lifestyle series and several documentaries, including Harry & Meghan.<\/p>\n

But the five-year deal officially ended in September 2025, with Netflix opting against renewing the contract.<\/p>\n

News broke in August that through their Archewell Productions company, the couple ultimately signed a new \u201cmulti-year, first-look\u201d deal.<\/p>\n

The less formal arrangement will give the streaming giant a first option on proposals from Archewell Productions.<\/p>\n

An insider told Page Six last month that the new deal is \u201cnot much.\u201d They added, \u201cIt\u2019s no risk for Netflix but saves them both reputationally.\u201d<\/p>\n
