Warner Bros. and DC have made Batman Day<\/a> a September staple for a decade, and for 2026, the occasion means a trip to the movies.<\/p>\n

For Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, theatregoers can see Tim Burton\u2019s\u00a0Batman<\/a> or the animated flicks\u00a0Mask of the Phantasm<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0The Lego Batman Movie<\/a>\u00a0on the big screen again. The 1989 movie was back in theaters for its 35th anniversary in 2024, while Mask\u00a0and\u00a0Lego\u00a0have only had their initial theatrical runs. Of the three, the 1989 movie is the highest-grossing ($411.6 million worldwide), followed by\u00a0Lego\u00a0($312 million) and\u00a0Phantasm\u00a0($5.8 million).<\/p>\n

Beyond money, each of the Batman movies are significant in some fashion. Burton\u2019s movie kickstarted the character\u2019s modern dominance, while Lego\u2019s\u00a0re-release is nicely timed, given the Legacy of the Dark Knight\u00a0game from earlier this year. Meanwhile, M<\/a>ask of the Phantasm<\/a>\u00a0wasn\u2019t just the first movie of the DCAU\u2014which\u00a0Batman: The Animated Series\u00a0helped kick off\u2014it\u2019s also the only of those films to get a theatrical release.<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s anything else planned for Batman Day, like a look at\u00a0The Batman Part II<\/a>\u00a0or something for next month\u2019s\u00a0Clayface<\/a>,\u00a0Warner Bros. is keeping that under wraps. Even if there\u2019s not, three pretty good movies covering different parts of the character\u2019s history is good on its own, especially if you were too young or weren\u2019t alive to see these on the big screen when they first came out.<\/p>\n
