Samsung has formally ended software support for the Galaxy Watch 4<\/a> and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic<\/a>, removing both from its security update page<\/a> roughly five years after their launch in 2021. Their final update<\/a> arrived in August 2026 and contained essential security fixes, meaning no further regular patches, bug fixes or software improvements are planned. <\/p>\n

The decision closes an important chapter for Samsung\u2019s smartwatch lineup, as the Watch 4 series was the company\u2019s first generation to transition from Tizen to Google\u2019s Wear OS<\/a>, with Samsung and Google jointly developing Wear OS 3. This helped reshape Samsung\u2019s wearable platform, although the watches retained much of the look and feel of the previous Tizen-based interface. <\/p>\n

For existing owners, the watches will continue to function, but the end of updates may be a significant drawback for some, especially for those who rely on payment or cellular features, while compatibility and software improvements are also no longer guaranteed.
