Mostyn Medallists awarded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South West Sydney Blues\u2019 Luke Parkinson and the North Shore Bombers\u2019 Lucy Yates have claimed the Phelan and Mostyn Medals respectively for the 2026 AFL Sydney season.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 AFL Sydney Phelan and Mostyn Medal count was held at Sydney\u2019s hallowed Royal Randwick Racecourse as the league celebrated 100 years of the Phelan Medal.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the medal\u2019s centenary, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon presented the award to Parkinson following his outstanding season where he regularly polled after serving as an invaluable asset in the Blues\u2019 midfield.<\/p>\n<p>Yates claimed the Mostyn Medal during a thrilling count where the midfielder\u2019s remarkable season saw her awarded the medal from former winner Hannah Woolf.<\/p>\n<p>Both Parkinson and Yates were selected to represent New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory in the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Senior Representative games against Queensland Country in July. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In his opening address at the medal count, Dillon remarked: \u201cThese medals tell the story of our sport and celebrate excellence, inspire future generations, and reflect the strength of footy across this city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, there are more than 82,000 people playing footy across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, and the depth of talent coming out of this state is undeniable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year, more and more talented young men and women are being drafted to the AFL and AFLW from right here in Sydney&#8230;
