Tributes have flooded social media for Mason, who was president of the Eureka Social Riders.<\/p>\n

Melbourne-based motorcycle content creators That Harley Couple said they were \u201cgutted to hear of the loss of Tiki\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe interviewed him this year at the Redback Rally and although only a short conversation he left a lasting impression,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat impression was one of a true gentleman who cared deeply about those around him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will no doubt be missed by many.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cCondolences to his family, friends and brothers and sisters in the club and greater biker community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Death sparks anger over condition of roads<\/p>\n
Mason\u2019s death has also sparked anger over the condition of Victoria\u2019s roads, with social media users describing the crash as avoidable.<\/p>\n
It comes just days after the Victorian Auditor-General found half of the state\u2019s road network was in poor condition, as a backlog of potholes waiting to be repaired continues to grow.<\/p>\n
Examining more than 23,000km of roads, it characterised their overall condition as \u201cdeteriorating\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Victorian Motorcycle Council has been raising concerns for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
Chair of the advocacy group Rob Salvatore said potholes, questionable repairs and substandard surfaces had made riding less safe and enjoyable.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a genuinely tragic incident,\u201d Salvatore said of Sunday\u2019s incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cSafer motorcycling relies on the condition of the roads, and poor conditions can impact the safety of the rider in very detrimental ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conditions meant riders have been forced to adjust their routines, with some older people refusing to ride at night, Salvatore said.<\/p>\n
He said the state government appeared to be taking the issue seriously, but said Sunday\u2019s fatality should spur real change.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomething good should come out of something so tragic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The state Labor government and Coalition have offered duelling commitments to deliver road repairs in the lead-up to the November state election.<\/p>\n
Labor\u2019s vision includes an additional $300 million to fix 500,000 potholes by the end of January, aided by delayed infrastructure spending and the work of prisoners.<\/p>\n
Premier Ben Carroll, who was heckled about potholes at an unrelated press conference on Friday, said the \u201cbuck does stop with us\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know road conditions aren\u2019t good enough,\u201d he said in a statement, citing his government\u2019s pothole repair targets and plans to bring road maintenance back in house.<\/p>\n

Carroll described Sunday\u2019s crash as a \u201ctragic loss of life\u201d, adding his thoughts were with the rider\u2019s loved ones.<\/p>\n
The state Liberal-National coalition meanwhile has pledged $5 billion over four years to plug one million potholes.<\/p>\n
Victorian Nationals leader Danny O\u2019Brien said Sunday\u2019s \u201ctragedy\u201d highlighted the need for immediate action to avoid further deaths.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt should never have come to this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
