{"id":892489,"date":"2026-09-15T04:52:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T04:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/892489\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T04:52:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T04:52:11","slug":"ryan-garcia-refuses-the-one-condition-gervonta-davis-wants-for-rematch-i-need-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/892489\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan Garcia refuses the one condition Gervonta Davis wants for rematch: &#8220;I need that&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A potential rematch between <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/ryan-garcia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Garcia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/gervonta-davis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gervonta Davis<\/a> has been dealt a blow.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia is currently plotting his next move following <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/ryan-garcia-sums-up-benn-performance\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his dominant second round knockout win over Conor Benn<\/a> on Saturday to retain his WBC welterweight title.<\/p>\n<p>A possible unification clash against WBA champion Teofimo Lopez looks the most likely option, but there has also been rumblings over the last 24 hours about a possible second meeting with former foe Davis.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia and Davis met back in in April 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/36268188\/gervonta-davis-ko-ryan-garcia-brutal-body-shot-7th\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">with \u2018Tank\u2019 claiming the seventh round stoppage win<\/a>, in a bout that was set at a 136lb catchweight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018King Ry\u2019 has stated ever since that bout that the weight restrictions limited him in the fight, and so has regularly campaigned for a rematch in a higher division.<\/p>\n<p>According to \u2018The Ring\u2019, Davis made his offer for the second clash with a comment on social media on Monday, stating that he would have the rematch at 140lbs, but not at 147lbs.<\/p>\n<p>That suggestion has been rejected by Garcia though, as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RyanGarcia\/status\/2099555210188435513\" rel=\"nofollow\">he responded on social media<\/a> claiming that Davis \u2018doesn\u2019t want the smoke.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cGervonta cool but he don\u2019t want the smoke. What\u2019s up with you I went to 136 you can\u2019t come to 147 don\u2019t be shaky now. I need that if you want it.
