The Chiefs<\/a> were the NFL’s most disappointing team in 2025, but they got off to a strong start this year with a dominant 31-10 win over the Broncos<\/a> on Monday night.<\/p>\n Kansas City’s player of the game was Kenneth Walker, whom the team added in free agency at running back. The Super Bowl 60 MVP added explosiveness in the running game by producing 173 rushing yards, 18 receiving yards and two total touchdowns.<\/p>\n Patrick Mahomes played in his first game since tearing his ACL last December, and it was a mixed bag for the star quarterback. Mahomes actually ran the ball well, scrambling for a touchdown early in the game, but was more inconsistent as a passer. Still, the star quarterback didn’t need to carry Kansas City on this night, and that is a positive for the future.<\/p>\n On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs defense smothered the Broncos offense. Rookie corner Mansoor Delane picked off Bo Nix on the game’s third play from scrimmage before Delane left with an injury. Denver scored just 10 points, and three were gifted off a Mahomes interception in Chiefs territory.<\/p>\n The Broncos went 14-3 last year, entering this season with Super Bowl aspirations. Instead, Denver has to regroup with one of the league’s toughest schedules on deck. New wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had just one catch for two yards, while offensive playcaller Davis Webb underwhelmed in his first game in charge of the offense.<\/p>\n The Sporting News tracked updates and highlights from Chiefs vs. Broncos on Monday night.
