Queensland woman Brianna Cronin has been identified as the Australian tourist who fell to their death on the cliffside of Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Indonesia, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Ms Cronin, an ecologist and University of Queensland graduate, was solo travelling in the popular holiday destination when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n

A lifeguard patrolling the shoreline was first notified by beachgoers that the 29-year-old Ms Cronin was stuck on the steep southern cliffside at 7.45am on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Fellow tourists had spotted her stranded on a ledge below the main path of the cliff, after she slipped on loose rocks and was unable to pull herself back up, while too high to safely descend the remaining distance to the beach.<\/p>\n

Tragically, while an emergency response team was being organised, Ms Cronin fell the remaining way down the cliffside and landed near the shoreline.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the time, she was seeking an independent path toward the edge of the cliff before slipping and falling into the ravine,\u201d Nusa Penida\u2019s alert unit coordinator Cakra Negara said.<\/p>\n

Klungkung Police official Iptu I Dewa Nyoman Alit Purnawibawa said Ms Cronin\u2019s body was found on the beach, the Bali Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen found, the victim had sustained several fractures; we secured her onto a stretcher to facilitate the evacuation process.\u201d<\/p>\n

The police official confirmed that Ms Cronin was already deceased when the emergency response team reached her.<\/p>\n

Ms Cronin\u2019s body was originally going to be evacuated by sea but this plan had to be cancelled due to high tides.<\/p>\n

Responders instead undertook an hour-and-a-half-long evacuation operation to carry Ms Cronin\u2019s body up the rugged cliffside trail back to the Kelingking Beach viewing area.<\/p>\n

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson has confirmed the Australian government is providing consular assistance to Ms Cronin\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Swimming at Kelingking Beach, often referred to as T-Rex Bay due to its cliff shaped like a Tyrannosaurus Rex, is banned at all times due to dangerous currents.<\/p>\n
