{"id":894930,"date":"2026-09-17T05:02:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T05:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/894930\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T05:02:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T05:02:11","slug":"report-keenan-allens-bac-was-measured-at-0-224-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/894930\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Keenan Allen&#8217;s BAC was measured at 0.224 percent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colts receiver Keenan Allen faces an <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/keenan-allen-formally-charged-with-two-misdemeanors-from-august-arrest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">enhanced misdemeanor charge<\/a> for DUI, because his blood-alcohol concentration (alcohol concentration equivalent, in Indiana parlance) exceeded 0.15 percent after he was arrested last month.<\/p>\n<p>Allen\u2019s BAC didn\u2019t exceed 0.15 percent by just a little bit.<\/p>\n<p>Via Stephen Holder of ESPN, the number measured following Allen\u2019s arrest <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/49956982\/colts-keenan-allen-formally-charged-faces-two-misdemeanors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">was 0.224 percent<\/a>. That\u2019s significantly beyond the legal limit of 0.08 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The number came from a breath test. Allen also gave a blood sample. That result has not yet been released.<\/p>\n<p>If the measurement is accurate, Allen was extremely intoxicated \u2014 approaching potential alcohol poisoning. Under the NFL\u2019s substance-abuse policy, Allen is subject to something more than a three-game suspension.<\/p>\n<p>From the policy: \u201cIf the Commissioner finds that there were aggravating circumstances, including but not limited to felonious conduct, extreme intoxication (BAC of .15% or more), property damage or serious injury or death to the Player or a third party, and\/or if the Player has had prior drug or alcohol-related misconduct, increased discipline may be imposed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The timeline for the resolution of Allen\u2019s case isn\u2019t known. He could possibly get through the current season without league-imposed punishment.
