\n\t\u201cThunderbolts\u201d and \u201cMonarch: Legacy of Monsters\u201d star Wyatt Russell<\/a> has been cast John Carroll Lynch\u2019s upcoming comedy \u201cHappy,\u201d joining Asa Butterfield (\u201cSex Education\u201d), Mark Strong (\u201c1917\u201d), Kyra Sedgwick (\u201cThe Closer\u201d), Brittany O\u2019Grady (\u201cThe White Lotus\u201d) and Patti Harrison (\u201cTogether Together\u201d).\u2028\u2028<\/p>\n

\n\tFirst announced by Variety, the film is described as \u201cwhat may be the worst first meeting with your partner\u2019s parents ever committed to film.\u201d It was written by Ira Steven Behr (\u201cOutlander\u201d) and marks the second feature directed by Lynch, whose acclaimed offbeat debut \u201cLucky\u201d starred Harry Dean Stanton and director David Lynch.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHappy\u201d follows Myles (Butterfield) into a spectacularly dysfunctional introduction to his girlfriend\u2019s family: a shotgun fired at a birthday cake, a voyeuristic mother, a seductive sister, a disarmingly decent ex-boyfriend, way too much booze and nowhere near enough boundaries. What starts as an awkward introduction quickly becomes a test of just how far Myles is willing to go for the woman he loves.\u2028<\/p>\n

\n\tRussell, who is set to play a character called Roger. joins off the back of a run of major studios franchises and high-profile projects. Most recently, he appeared opposite Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg\u2019s \u201cDisclosure Day\u201d while he is currently filming \u201cBirdwatcher,\u201d a \u201cMonarch\u201d spinoff centered on his character Lee Shaw.\u2028He\u2019s also set to reprise his MCU role of John Walker\/U.S. Agent in \u201cAvengers: Doomsday.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWyatt is such a perfect fit for Roger \u2013 his insight on the role is so exciting. He has such passion for the project and the part. We couldn\u2019t be happier to have him,\u201d said Lynch.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHappy\u201d is produced by Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of BCDF Pictures (\u201cTo Leslie,\u201d \u201cThe Hating Game\u201d), alongside Richard Kahan (\u201cLucky\u201d) and Behr. Embankment is handling global sales on the film, which is set to begin principal photography in March 2027 in the U.S.<\/p>\n
