The FIA has issued a statement clarifying that its contract with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest for the promotion of the World Endurance Championship remains “in place until the end of 2027.”\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
A report was published on Thursday from respected German publication Auto Motor Und Sport stating that a contract for the promotion of the WEC was not in place for 2027, and that a public tender could be opened.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
This would have meant that the Le Mans 24 Hours would not have been on the calendar with a new promoter, as that race is owned and run by the ACO.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The governing body has now rejected that claim and has clarified that the WEC will be promoted by the ACO in 2027, whilst a new contract is agreed for 2028 and beyond.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
It is also understood by RacingNews365 that there were inconsistencies within the original AMUS report.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“The FIA World Endurance Championship has enjoyed sustained growth since the introduction of the Hypercar and LMGT3 regulations, competing this season across seven countries,” began the statement, issued to RacingNews365.\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“This achievement is the result of extensive collaboration between drivers, teams, manufacturers, the FIA, the promoter, the ACO and the millions of fans who follow the championship.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“The FIA and ACO are continuing discussions regarding an extension of the promoter agreement.
