Kim Kardashian<\/a> has been diagnosed with esophagitis, a condition linked to esophageal cancer, which is what killed her father Robert Kardashian<\/a> in 2003. <\/p>\n

The revelation was made in the Season 8 trailer of The Kardashians. <\/p>\n

In a clip, Kardashian says that she\u2019s been diagnosed with the condition. \u201cI have something called esophagitis,\u201d she says, before someone off camera replies: \u201cDidn\u2019t your father\u2026 isn\u2019t that what he died of?\u201d <\/p>\n

Kim then gives a one-word answer: \u201cYeah.\u201d <\/p>\n

The trailer then shows Kardashian reclined in a hospital bed and gown. Kim\u2019s mother, Kris Jenner<\/a>, is then seen tearing up in an emotional confessional. <\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t\u2026it makes me want to cry,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer at the age of 59, just eight weeks after his diagnosis. <\/p>\n

Esophagitis causes swelling and irritation of the lining of the esophagitis. Chronic or long-term esophagitis is linked to an increased risk of esophageal cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic. <\/p>\n

The risk of developing cancer from the condition is low, and most cases of esophageal cancer \u201care not clearly linked to a gene passed down in families,\u201d the Mayo Clinic says. <\/p>\n

The Kardashian sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, announced the opening of the Robert G. Kardashian centre for esophageal health at UCLA in honour of their father in 2019. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy wish is that other families can have more information and we can also focus on health and prevention.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is not the first health scare for Kardashian. Just one year ago, she revealed that doctors had found a \u201clittle\u201d brain aneurysm during an MRI scan. <\/p>\n

She was told that aneurysms can be caused by stress. <\/p>\n

The SKIMS founder was going through a public and volatile divorce from rapper Ye, formally Kanye West, between 2021 and 2022. <\/p>\n

Kim has briefly opened up about her divorce but from Kanye. In an episode of the Kardashians she explained that \u201csomething happened\u201d to her estranged husband that \u201cchanged his personality.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re not the same person and you can\u2019t ever get that person back, but you can\u2019t live with the new person,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

She also explained that sometimes \u201ccircumstances\u201d can bring an end to a marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tougher when you don\u2019t want your marriage to end off of personal reasons, but circumstances change that force your marriage to end,\u201d she told the camera in a confessional last year.<\/p>\n

She said things are “harder” when “there’s no other option”.<\/p>\n

The pair were married in 2014 but filed for divorce in 2021. Her marriage to Kanye was her third.<\/p>\n
