Registration is essential.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Skye Fruean said the forums gave South Australians the opportunity to better understand the evolving situation and the role they can play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese forums are a good opportunity for the community to find out more about H5 bird flu and what they can do to help protect birdlife and other susceptible animals, including pets,\u201d Dr Fruean said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said PIRSA had been encouraged by public awareness of the disease, particularly the number of reports being made through the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Australians are being urged to continue reporting sick or dead birds and other wildlife. Signs to look out for in birds include multiple sick or dead birds in one location, weakness or an inability to stand or fly, abnormal behaviour or neurological symptoms, swelling or discolouration around the head and respiratory distress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People who come across sick or dead wildlife should not touch it.
