{"id":898218,"date":"2026-09-19T22:20:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T22:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/898218\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T22:20:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T22:20:14","slug":"james-moffat-channels-garry-rogers-on-todd-hazelwood-the-bend-trans-am-clash-fallout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/898218\/","title":{"rendered":"James Moffat channels Garry Rogers on Todd Hazelwood The Bend Trans Am clash fallout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-24-James-Moffat\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JAMES Moffat<\/a> is channelling his inner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-354-Garry-Rogers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garry Rogers<\/a> when it comes to a controversial Trans Am clash with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1174-Todd-Hazelwood\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Todd Hazelwood<\/a> last weekend that saw him belatedly stripped of victory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The duo\u2019s battle for victory on the Saturday at The Bend boiled over on the last lap; contact led to Hazelwood off the road, while Moffat was stung with a penalty that would see Nathan Herne inherit the race win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hazelwood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/hazelwood-shrugs-off-pain-fires-shot-at-moffat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was openly critical of Moffat after the fact<\/a>, though the latter\u2019s Garry Rogers Motorsport crew felt strongly they had a case to make.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyhow, Moffat is not dwelling on the matter as he now looks ahead to a Repco Bathurst 1000 wildcard start alongside Herne for GRM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was disappointing how it all unfolded and the end outcome, but it is what it is and you have just got to move on,\u201d he said via The Undercut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s what Garry would say to me if he was still around, so that\u2019s how I\u2019m approaching it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clear As Mud! | The Undercut<\/p>\n<p>THE Undercut returns, breaking down the latest news in the world of Supercars racing!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barry Rogers lauded the hard racers that both Moffat and Herne are.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBack in Garry\u2019s day, that\u2019s how he was. He was a hustler. He raced hard, and Herney and Moff are the same,\u201d Rogers told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe all know Bathurst can bite you fairly hard \u2013 certainly Moff is experienced and it\u2019s been such a long way for Nathan to get there that he doesn\u2019t want to throw it away. When the time is right, they will be racing hard there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GRM\u2019s Great Race preparations will ramp up with a two-day test at Winton this coming week, September 22-23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat will be exciting to finally hit the track in the car and get all the crew up there and get them accustomed to the Gen3 car,\u201d said Moffat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBecause let\u2019s not forget it has been six years since GRM have been in Supercars competition\u2026 so it will just be nice to blow the cobwebs off and get stuck into it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GRM\u2019s last Supercars start came in the 2020 Bathurst 1000, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1521-Tyler-Everingham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Everingham<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1544-Jayden-Ojeda\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jayden Ojeda<\/a> sharing a Holden ZB Commodore.
