Tasmania’s fire service has issued bushfire alerts for several areas as wind gusts make conditions difficult for fire crews.<\/p>\n

As of 4pm, seven warnings were active, with people in affected areas urged to stay updated with the latest advice <\/a>from authorities.<\/p>\n

Bushfire information:In a life-threatening emergency, call 000 For the latest advice, visit the TasAlert website<\/a> or on ABC Emergency<\/a>For information on current road closures, visit the Tasmania Police website<\/a>People at higher risk from the effects of smoke, including those with medical conditions, are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke and managing their healthAdvice is available from the Department of Health website regarding air quality<\/a> or at the Asthma Australia website<\/a><\/p>\n

It comes as the TFS warned earlier in the week that areas of Tasmania would face an elevated fire danger<\/a> due to a combination of high temperatures, dry air and windy conditions.<\/p>\n

As of Sunday afternoon, the following warnings are in place:<\/p>\n

Fire crews were also in attendance at a vegetation fire at Franklin, in Hobart’s south, where a smoke alert message was issued for the Huon Highway south of Franklin to Braeside Road.<\/p>\n

The Bureau of Meteorology has also issued a Severe Weather Warning forecasting damaging winds today, clearing by Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Locations likely to be impacted include St Helens, Swansea, Strahan, New Norfolk, Hobart, Oatlands, Bicheno, Orford and Bothwell.<\/p>\n

These conditions may lead to fallen trees, branches and powerlines.<\/p>\n

If you are in or near the storm area, Tasmania SES advises you to check your emergency plan if you have one.<\/p>\n
