{"id":898911,"date":"2026-09-20T12:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T12:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/898911\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T12:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T12:50:09","slug":"tom-lang-relishing-return-to-action-after-second-sons-debut-dumbarton-football-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/898911\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Lang relishing return to action after second Sons debut \u2013 Dumbarton Football Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dumbartonfootballclub.com\/player\/tom-lang\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Lang<\/a> was delighted to mark his second debut at The Rock \u2013 sponsored by Marbill Coaches with a clean sheet as we recorded <a href=\"https:\/\/dumbartonfootballclub.com\/fixtures\/dumbarton-v-the-spartans-26-27-l2-8\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a 3-0 victory over The Spartans<\/a> on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defender was pleased with the afternoon and is now targeting more performances like it as we look to build momentum and put points on the board.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was good, but could have been better if we won 4-0! But it is just about keeping our standards high now and just trying to get as many points on the board as possible, we need more days like that, clean sheets, wins, so I enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After limited game time in recent seasons with <a href=\"https:\/\/dumbartonfootballclub.com\/clubs\/falkirk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Falkirk<\/a>, Lang was particularly pleased to complete the full 90 minutes and get back to playing regularly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m here, to play games and get my career back on track again,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI enjoyed it. Hopefully until January I can play as many 90 minutes as possible now, every footballer wants to just play, it was good to get back out there, hopefully it\u2019ll be the same again next week and the week after that and I\u2019ll keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite only recently joining the squad, Lang was able to quickly establish an understanding with his defensive teammates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt can be really difficult, luckily I was in training on Tuesday and Thursday so I learnt all the boys\u2019 names and stuff like that,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cToday I thought it was alright, a couple of times you just need to switch on and think, \u2018oh God what\u2019s my name again\u2019, but now all the boys have been talking to me to be fair and have been really welcoming, so that makes it a lot easier as well, after all the staff have been great to me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think that is my job in the team, the gaffer\u2019s told me he wants me to be a leader out there and command the boys, so hopefully I can do that as much as possible and just get the boys in the right positions at times, because they\u2019re all good players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tom returns to The Rock with experience of playing across the Scottish football pyramid, having most recently dropped from the Premiership for a second spell with the Sons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the defender believes that experience can help us as we look to challenge at the top end of the division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI can just do my best and try and help the boys as much as possible and try and guide them in ways on the pitch,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cObviously I\u2019ve actually played in every division in Scotland, I\u2019ve got promoted in this league, I\u2019ve got promoted in League 1, I\u2019ve got promoted in the Championship, so I know what it takes to win a division, so hopefully I can bring my experience and help the boys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With his second debut now complete, Lang will be hoping for another opportunity to add to his minutes in Dumbarton colours as we look to build on Saturday\u2019s impressive result.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tom Lang was delighted to mark his second debut at The Rock \u2013 sponsored by Marbill Coaches with&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":898912,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[563],"tags":[64,63,596,85],"class_list":["post-898911","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-football","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-football","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/898911","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=898911"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/898911\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/898912"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=898911"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=898911"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=898911"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
