Then he threw one overhand right in front of Dana White and the whole thing made sense.

The Lowdown

Brazilian. Welterweight. Born and raised in Goiânia, Goiás, now training out of the Black Thai Team in Curitiba. Stands 6’0″ and fights orthodox. Pro since 2015, and the number that jumps off his record is not the win total but the finish rate. Twenty professional wins, twenty finishes. Seventeen of them knockouts. He has never once been handed a decision victory.

Two-time OKTAGON Welterweight champion. Gave the belt up twice, both times to chase the same thing.

Goiânia, and a Kid Who Found Muay Thai First

Brito came up poor in Goiânia and has never dressed it up. The UFC’s own Contender Series preview described his path from a street kid to a martial artist who took Muay Thai seriously before he took anything else seriously. The striking came first. Jiu-jitsu and the wrestling side of the sport came after, bolted onto a base that was already sharp.

His mother is the reason he trains the way he does. He talks about the career as a mission that was decided for him rather than one he chose, and about her sacrifices as the debt he is still paying off.

He turned pro in September 2015 on a small Brazilian card called NP Fight, submitting Fernando Soares de Lima inside a round. What followed was the standard Brazilian regional grind across promotions most fans outside the country have never heard of. Arena Fire Fight. Katana Fight. Chokes and knockouts, one after another, on shows with no broadcast and no money.

The first blemish arrived in 2017, a decision loss to Erivan Pereira. Then in 2019 he took a short-notice trip to Asia and got stopped in the third round by Mateusz Rębecki at Battlefield FC, back when Rębecki was still years away from his own UFC run.

Europe Was the Only Door Open

By late 2019 Brito had landed in OKTAGON MMA, the Czech and German promotion that has grown into the biggest operation on the continent. He announced himself at OKTAGON 15 in Prague with a first-round doctor stoppage over Gábor Boráros.

The early European years were choppy. A unanimous decision loss to Pavel Gordeev in Russia in February 2021. A split decision loss to Petr Kníže at OKTAGON 28 that September, sandwiched around a 93-second demolition of the highly regarded Pole Robert Bryczek. Brito was clearly the more dangerous man in most of those rooms. He was also losing rounds he should not have been losing.

Then came 3 December 2022 in Ostrava. David Kozma had ruled OKTAGON’s welterweight division for four years and was fighting in front of his own people. Brito broke him down for three rounds and stopped him with punches at 4:12 of the third to take the belt. OKTAGON’s own fighter page still leads with that night.

Oban Elliott and the Long Way Back

Brito did not defend it. He vacated the title in 2023 for a slot on Dana White’s Contender Series, walked into the UFC APEX in August that year and lost a majority decision to Oban Elliott.

No contract. No belt. Back to square one at an age when most prospects have already been signed or forgotten.

The rebuild went badly before it went well. Handed an immediate shot at the vacant OKTAGON Welterweight title at OKTAGON 64 in December 2024, he got head-kicked out cold in the first round by Ion Surdu. That is one of only two times anybody has knocked Kaik Brito out.

He came back six months later at OKTAGON 73 and wiped out Joilton Lutterbach in under two minutes. A booking against Amiran Gogoladze in December 2025 collapsed when Gogoladze got hurt, leaving Brito sat in camp with nothing to hit.

Backfist After Backfist in Ostrava

The title came back around on 14 February 2026. Ronald Paradeiser, the former OKTAGON Lightweight champion, had moved up to Welterweight and steamrolled two opponents. He was the favourite in Ostrava. He was also on the wrong end of one of the strangest title fights OKTAGON has put on.

Brito threw spinning back fists all night. Most of them missed. He landed one at the end of the first, another in the second and then, at 1:18 of the third, a short elbow rocked Paradeiser and the spinning backfist that followed put him on his hands and knees. Second reign, €5,000 Performance of the Night bonus, 100 per cent finish rate intact.

He held the belt for less than five months.

A Champion Who Gave It Away for Nothing

On 3 July 2026 Brito vacated the OKTAGON Welterweight title again. No UFC deal in hand. No opponent named. A cancelled September defence against Gogoladze and a Contender Series slot that guaranteed him precisely nothing beyond a fight.

His thanks to the promotion on the way out were short and free of bitterness. He wanted the UFC, and OKTAGON had let him go and get it.

Twelve Seconds Into the Third

The 18 August 2026 Contender Series main event at the Meta APEX was the best-tempered fight card argument of the season. Namo Fazil, the Kurdish-Finnish Welterweight who had blown up in popularity after appearing on the Netflix card in May, spent fight week talking. Brito answered with calf kicks and counter rights that Fazil never picked up.

Fazil pressed forward for two rounds and made Brito uncomfortable. Then, twelve seconds into the third, with his back near the cage and White sitting a few feet away, Brito threw the overhand right and Fazil dropped as if the power had been cut.

White’s first reaction was two words and neither of them was printable. Brito, Trent Miller, Cristian Perez, Alik Lorenz, Roman Gabriel Puga and Taner Trembley all walked out of the Apex with deals that night, six contracts on one of the best Contender Series cards ever staged. White told Brito he loved his style and loved the way he fought, and made a point of the fact that he had taken Fazil’s best all night.

Brito said afterwards he had been holding the punch back and had picked his spot deliberately, right in front of the man writing the cheque. “I move different. I cut angles in a completely different way,” he said in the cage.

What the UFC Actually Signed

A counter puncher with freak power, an addiction to spinning attacks and a Muay Thai base that shows up in his calf kicks and his elbows. Somebody who has been submitted zero times in twenty-six professional fights and who has never needed a judge to get his hand raised.

The gaps are real too. Three of his six losses came on the scorecards against opponents who were happy to out-work him, and Surdu proved the chin can be found by the right shot.

Brito trains alongside André Dida and the Black Thai crew in Curitiba, and says he is at his sharpest in that kind of small, loud gym. He has asked for a debut as soon as the UFC will book one.

Kaik Brito MMA Record and Fighter Stats

    Name
Kaik Brito

    Nationality
Brazilian

    Weight Class
Welterweight

    Date of Birth
26 March 1997 (Age 29)

    Height
6’0″

    Pro Record
20-6. 17 wins by KO, 3 wins by submission

    UFC Record
0-0

Recent Fight Record

DateEventOpponentResultMethod

18-Aug-26Contender Series 2026Namo FazilW3rd Round KO

14-Feb-26OKTAGON 84Ronald ParadeiserW3rd Round TKO

28-Jun-25OKTAGON 73Joilton LutterbachW1st Round KO

7-Dec-24OKTAGON 64Ion SurduL1st Round KO

3-Dec-23United Fighting Series 2Dalton RibeiroW1st Round KO

👉 Explore: Fightomic Rankings | Fightomic Welterweight Rankings

Kaik Brito spent eleven years building a record that almost nobody in America was watching.
