Formula 1 drivers said Madring\u2019s signature Monumental corner provided little challenge because the 2026 power units prevented them from tackling it at full speed.<\/p>\n

But reader @RedPill reckons the new home of the Spanish Grand Prix would fail to impress regardless of the rules:<\/p>\n

The track and that corner are pretty much a dud, but I don\u2019t think it can be blamed on the engine and rules, despite how much I do despise the new yo-yo engines.<\/p>\n

I think a lot of that corner being a dud, is the immediate sections just before it, and after it preventing it to be attacked in anger and to get the most out of it, but i\u2019s a low reward corner. It could have been tweaked slightly to get drivers excited exiting the corner, next to another car for a pass, but instead it\u2019s just another corner exit that\u2019s best to follow the car ahead of you for a number of reasons. Sadly for Madring, that pretty much speaks for the whole track.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so badly designed and executed, even F3 and F2 struggled racing on it. That\u2019s not a good sign for F1.
