This time the tech leaker in question is kopite7kimi on X, who has regularly been on the money when it comes to Nvidia GPU gossip.

“Unfortunately, GR20x is a product from 2028,” says the leaker in a post on 21 September 2026. “That means they have postponed again.” Nvidia’s GeForce GPUs based on the Rubin architecture are expected to use the “GR20x” model numbering scheme, where R stands for Rubin. The RTX 5090 is based on the GB202 chip, for example, and the RTX 6090 is expected to use a GR202 chip.

I hope Jensen can see everyone’s passion and launch new products for gaming as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, GR20x is a product from 2028. Both statements followed shortly after a seemingly over-optimistic YouTube video was released by Moore’s Law is Dead, which stated the RTX 6090 would not only be released in 2027, but early in the year.

Given the extreme cost of VRAM chips right now, and extraordinary RTX 5090 prices, it’s sadly not a surprise. The big memory makers have all shifted their manufacturing capacity in favour of churning out HBM for AI datacentres, with little headroom for making GDDR7 VRAM chips for graphics cards, as that’s where all the money is. If I were Nvidia, I certainly wouldn’t be looking to launch a next-gen gaming GPU any time soon.

This could be the last leak we get from kopite7kimi about Rubin any time soon as well. “I will try to minimize updates until there is definite news,” reads the end of this post, adding that there were “lessons learned” from previous experience. The opening sentence also appeals to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to “see everyone’s passion and launch new products for gaming as soon as possible.”

I don’t see that happening, though. Many PC gamers, including me, would love to see a new Nvidia gaming GPU soon, but not if it’s a paper launch with extreme prices, and it’s unlikely to end up any other way if he RTX 60 series were to launch in early 2027.

It’s looking less and less likely that Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 60 series is going to launch any time…

[6
64,63,126675,40170,2291,105
post-900363","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-geforce","tag-gpu","tag-nvidia","tag-technology
["GET
