Lancashire director of cricket performance Mark Chilton will be leaving the club after more than two decades with the county.<\/p>\n

David Thorley, director of women’s cricket, is also leaving as the Red Rose county restructures behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

Chilton, a former Lancashire captain, had been in his current role since 2021 and part of the coaching staff from 2014. <\/p>\n

Lancashire are set for their lowest ever finish in the County Championship following a poor 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

With one match of the season remaining they are seventh in Division Two and could finish bottom if results go against them.<\/p>\n

Thorley held his post since 2020 which included the switch from a regional to a county set-up in the women’s game and during his tenure, Lancashire won both the One-Day Cup and T20 County Cup in 2025.<\/p>\n

But this season, they finished bottom of the T20 Blast table and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the One-Day Cup.<\/p>\n

“We all share the ambition of seeing our Lancashire teams win games, progress in competitions and compete for trophies,” chief executive Daniel Gidney told the club’s website., external<\/a><\/p>\n

“For the men’s side, the County Championship is at the heart of the club’s cricketing vision, while for Lancashire Women, our aim is to consistently challenge for major honours.<\/p>\n

“I would like to express my thanks to Mark for his long association with the Red Rose and to David for leading the women’s side through such a transformational period.
