Grandparents living in western Sydney say the boys in blue have left them seeing red after crashing into their property not once, but twice.<\/p>\n

More than six months after the latest smash destroyed their garage, they\u2019re still waiting for their home to be repaired.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounded like a bomb,\u201d Sylvia said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought the house was collapsing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

After two crashes involving two police vehicles, the couple has been left with a badly damaged home.<\/p>\n

Now, Frank and Sylvia say police won\u2019t fix it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want money. I want my house restored,\u201d Sylvia said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the police just don\u2019t care. I don\u2019t think they care.\u201d<\/p>\n

A late-night pursuit through Merrylands in Sydney\u2019s west came to a crashing halt in 2024 when a police vehicle slammed through the couple\u2019s brick wall.<\/p>\n

Sylvia said their insurer came out to help after the first crash, and the couple was satisfied with the response.\u00a0A Current Affair<\/p>\n

It was the surprise house call even the police weren\u2019t expecting.<\/p>\n

Then, around two years later, lightning struck twice – this time, with far worse consequences.<\/p>\n

Footage shows a police wagon hurtling across the road before ploughing into Frank and Sylvia\u2019s home, bringing part of the garage crashing down.<\/p>\n

The officers scrambled from the wreckage, clambering over the debris.<\/p>\n

Sylvia was inside the home with her granddaughter shortly before the crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stood there, and I thought they killed my family,\u201d Sylvia said.\u00a0Supplied<\/p>\n

Her daughter had arrived to pick the girl up, and the pair had left only minutes earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard this humongous crash here. I actually honestly thought the house was falling,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Sylvia initially feared her daughter and granddaughter were still outside.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, both had already left and were safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stood there, and I thought they killed my family, and I couldn\u2019t get past that until they rang me and I knew that they were alive, and they were okay,\u201d Sylvia said.<\/p>\n

All this unfolded during after-school care, with students, parents and teachers just metres from the police vehicle\u2019s path.<\/p>\n

The impact caused part of the garage to collapse, broke water pipes, and forced emergency crews to switch off power to the property.<\/p>\n

But more than six months later, the house is still not fixed.<\/p>\n

Frank and Sylvia say police won’t repair their home, and their insurer is refusing to cover costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is on the police. They should actually be working with my insurance to get this house fixed and restored the way it was,\u201d Sylvia said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not asking for a new house.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple also want bollards installed outside the property to prevent another incident.<\/p>\n

Asked if she felt police were ignoring them, Sylvia said: \u201cI feel they are.<\/p>\n
