CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs<\/a> star Alex Bregman<\/a> suffered multiple facial fractures after being struck by a foul ball while standing in the on-deck circle Sunday, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.<\/p>\n Bregman will not undergo surgery and is hopeful to return in the postseason.<\/p>\n ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24\/7. Click here to watch<\/a><\/p>\n In the fourth inning of the Cubs’ 9-1 win<\/a> over the Reds<\/a>in Cincinnati, left-handed batting Michael Busch<\/a> checked his swing and fouled off a pitch from right-hander Luis Mey<\/a> that struck Bregman, who immediately jogged toward Chicago’s dugout with a hand covering the left side of his face.<\/p>\n Bregman was escorted by an athletic trainer down the dugout steps and into the clubhouse, with blood visible on his face.<\/p>\n “He got hit in the left cheekbone essentially, under the eye,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after the game. “He was bleeding from his nose a little. There’s some swelling. It’s a terrible, terrible accident.
