Chris Gotterup has suggested that it would be cool if Donald Trump decided to attend the Presidents Cup amid reports of him heading to Medinah this week. <\/p>\n

Trump made history during the 2017 Presidents Cup by becoming the first incumbent President of the United States of America to present the winning captain, Steve Stricker, with the trophy. Team USA won 19-11 that week at Liberty National. <\/p>\n

Brandt Snedeker may well be hoping that he gets the same opportunity over the coming days, as he looks to become the latest American captain to win the event. <\/p>\n

Of course, Donald Trump<\/a> did make sure to steal the spotlight during the opening day\u2019s play at last year\u2019s Ryder Cup<\/a> as he attended the afternoon session at Bethpage Black. And it is expected that he will be in Illinois this week for the latest edition of the Presidents Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chris Gotterup<\/a> is one of the rookies on Snedeker\u2019s team, with the youngster winning three times on the PGA Tour<\/a> this season. And speaking to the media ahead of his debut, Gotterup commented on the prospect of Trump being at the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I think everyone, you know, whoever the President is, if they care enough to come watch us play golf, that\u2019s pretty cool,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo I know we\u2019re excited, and we\u2019re going to go try to put on a good performance for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another rookie, Jacob Bridgeman<\/a> was also asked about the possibility, and last week\u2019s Biltmore Championship Asheville winner seemed a little bit more excited about the prospect. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I\u2019m assuming hopefully we\u2019ll have a bunch of Presidents out. That would just be amazing to meet them and have them rooting us on, pulling for our country, and it makes it feel even more patriotic,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Chris Gotterup suggests he would enjoy being paired with Cameron Young<\/p>\n

It is going to be interesting to see how Gotterup performs on the Presidents Cup stage. He has already shown on a number of occasions during his career that the big moments seem to bring the best out of him. <\/p>\n

The question is which player is he going to be paired with. He is incredibly good friends with Bridgeman, while he hails from a similar area to Cameron Young<\/a>. <\/p>\n

And while he admitted that he is a very different player to Young, he suggested that he would be more than happy being sent out with The Players Championship winner. <\/p>\n

\u201cKind of funny, we were talking it about it this week that we never really overlapped in the Met section at all, but it feels like we should have,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, he\u2019s one of the guys that I\u2019ve gotten to know better and play with a bunch in Florida. We work with similar people on our teams and stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, we definitely play different, but similarly. It\u2019s kind of funny, like I feel like he does the opposite of what I do, like big high draws, and I\u2019m kind of hard low cuts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I think we make a good potential pairing together.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week certainly has the potential to be yet another breakout moment for Gotterup as he represents his country for the very first time. <\/p>\n

However, he will know that he is probably going to have to produce something special if he hopes to upstage President Trump. <\/p>\n
