The grounds also include gardens, lawns, a garage and a security station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">The estate is part of the history of some of Hollywood\u2019s earliest movers and shakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">According to the listing description, architect B. DeMille bought the property in 1916 and lived there until his death in 1959.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">DeMille, often called a founding father of American cinema, shaped modern film-making by directing and producing 70 feature films from the silent era through the rise of sound and colour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zEEGoQobVQRR\" style=\"display:none\">In 1920, DeMille expanded the estate by acquiring a neighbouring house once lived in by Charlie Chaplin.
