Racing continues in Montreal! Friday began with the U23 men, and the junior women will close out the third-to-last day of the road world championships with an 80.4-km race through the streets of Montreal.<\/p>\n
Canada has a strong team of five Canadians set to take part on the city circuits and it should be fast from kilometre 0. Unlike some of the other categories which had longer races, where an early break is allowed to take off and the pack tries to eventually reel it in\u2013it\u2019s game on from the start.<\/p>\n
Molly Flynn, Julia Lehmann, \u00c9lodie Malois, Elly Moore and Sandrine Veilleux are there and should be a presence. Malois and Moore already did the TT earlier this week<\/a>. Malois was 19th, and Moore was 27th.<\/p>\n The road<\/p>\n Now, the road race brings a very different dynamic than some of the races we saw yesterday. The short distance means there won\u2019t be much room for riders to hide\u2013or make any mistakes.<\/p>\n Just like the junior men, expect some aggressive racing\u2014although certainly attrition will set in at the end, but not as much as in the longer races. Still, multiple times up Camilien Houde will tenderize their legs before the finale. That definitely makes her one of the riders to watch. Still, the race is wide open enough for a strong move on the climbs. But there could also be a well-timed attack late in the day, which could completely change the picture. A lull here or there and a big move could give a lesser-known rider a chance to play a spoiler.<\/p>\n Britain, Germany, France and the Netherlands all bring riders capable of playing a role in the finale, while the U.S., Norway, and Spain add plenty of depth to an international field.
