But when an idea emerged that would soon become known as\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday, they were immediately reeled back in. Now, with\u00a0Doomsday on the horizon,\u00a0Avengers Endgame: Encore presented an opportunity to think past the bookend they had once imagined for these beloved characters.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere’s certainly a pivotal moment in [Endgame: Encore] at the end where the moment has a different meaning,\u201d teased Russo. \u201cWe sort of play one beat past where Steve Rogers<\/a>\u2019 story ended with Peggy Carter<\/a>. And that in that moment, that’s where\u00a0Doomsday is born.\u201d<\/p>\n Avengers: Doomsday assembles a cast of heroes spanning three different universes. It\u2019s a story of epic proportions, the full scale of which is being kept tightly under wraps. \u201cWe’ve announced some of the cast, and we haven’t announced some of the cast,\u201d Russo told the audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n At the center of\u00a0Avengers:\u00a0Doomsday\u2019s star-studded ensemble, however, is a face fans know all too well: Robert Downey Jr. Trading in one mask for another, the Oscar-winning actor returns to the MCU as the villainous Victor Von Doom<\/a>, a stark pivot from the armored hero he once played.
