The woman who accused Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13<\/a> has recanted her allegations against the music mogul.<\/p>\n

In a filing Thursday from lawyers representing Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, the former accuser says that her allegations against the rapper were \u201cfalse\u201d, adding that she \u201cnever met Mr Carter. Mr Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the filing, she added that she falsely claimed that Carter and Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs raped her while watched by another celebrity, whose name is redacted.<\/p>\n

The filing is part of Carter\u2019s ongoing malicious prosecution lawsuit against the woman\u2019s former attorney, Tony Buzbee, which was filed in February 2025 in New York. Carter\u2019s lawyers said this week they were dropping the woman, known as Jane Doe, from the suit.<\/p>\n

Buzbee, Jane Doe, and representatives for Carter and Combs didn\u2019t immediately respond to requests for comment. <\/p>\n

Combs is serving a sentence in federal prison after he was convicted in July 2025 of prostitution-related crimes, in a separate case.<\/p>\n

The woman came forward in December 2024, in a civil lawsuit filed by Buzbee, accusing Carter and Combs of raping her at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, which were held in New York. Days after the suit was filed, she sat down with NBC News for an interview and doubled down on her claims. <\/p>\n

But after NBC News pointed out inconsistencies in her account, she said in a subsequent phone interview that she had \u201cmade some mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, Combs\u2019 attorneys described the suit as a \u201cshameful money grab\u201d while Carter\u2019s lawyer Alex Spiro called it a \u201cfrivolous case\u201d.<\/p>\n

In February 2025, the accuser voluntarily dismissed the case<\/a> with prejudice in a Manhattan federal court, meaning she could not bring it again.<\/p>\n

In a sworn declaration at the time, the woman insisted she stood by her claims and only dropped her lawsuit due to \u201cfear of intimidation and retaliation from Jay-Z\u201d and his fans.<\/p>\n

In Jay\u2019s lawsuit, he claimed the allegations of rape against him were knowingly false and malicious and accused the woman and her lawyers of having \u201claunched to extort\u201d him.<\/p>\n
