Maria da Gra\u00e7a Carvalho, who is the Minister of Environment and Energy, has stated that Portugal has sufficient fuel reserves, thus excluding the possibility of any disruption in the supply at a time when isolated shortages of products are being reported at service stations in France.<\/p>\n
The figures concerning the fuel reserves stated by the Minister, as passed on to the media and subsequently reported by the Lusa news agency, show that the country now has 92 days’ worth of strategic liquid fuel reserves, this amount going beyond the 90-day figure recommended by international organisations.<\/p>\n
The country also has a surplus of 18% in its jet fuel stocks even when you take into account the 3% rise in consumption by the end of August.<\/p>\n
The Energy Minister stressed that the international situation is constantly being monitored, pointing out that Portugal’s supply system is advantageously based on a diverse range of suppliers situated away from areas of conflict or instability, particularly those imported from Brazil, Nigeria, Algeria, and the United States.<\/p>\n
