Police have arrested three teenagers after a man was allegedly stabbed while trying to stop a group of boys from breaking into a car in Melbourne’s south-east early this morning.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old is fighting for life in hospital after being stabbed outside his home in Govan Street in Langwarrin at 12:20am, police say.<\/p>\n

Police allege he was critically injured when he confronted the group.<\/p>\n

Police were called to Govan Street in Langwarrin in the early hours of the morning. (ABC News)<\/p>\n

Ambulance Victoria said Mobile Intensive Care and Advanced Life Support paramedics were called to the incident.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the man was taken to the Alfred Hospital with wounds to the upper body.<\/p>\n

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested about 4am while a third teenager, aged 17, was arrested on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A resident of Langwarrin said one of the boys was arrested after being captured on his CCTV cameras in his backyard.<\/p>\n

He said the boy made his way out of his property through a front gate.<\/p>\n

Other neighbours described the street as family-friendly and close-knit.<\/p>\n

“Normally there’s kids playing on the street, everyone’s out having a beer,” one said. “It’s just a weird feeling.”<\/p>\n

“There were four cop cars, three ambulances. We were just a bit shocked,” another said.<\/p>\n

“We’ve walked around here since we were kids \u2026 you just wouldn’t think twice.”<\/p>\n
